Made from what already existed.
Every Aura Phone is built almost entirely from metals and glass that have already had one life. The result is a phone that costs the ground very little, and gives up nothing to get there.
Titanium
The frame is drawn from reclaimed aerospace offcuts and end-of-life devices, remelted and reforged. Not a gram of newly mined titanium goes into an Aura Phone.
Glass
Cover glass is milled from recovered display panels, then strengthened and etched. The matte finish comes from the etch itself, so nothing is coated and nothing wears off.
Rare earths
The magnets in the speakers, the haptic engine and the camera stabiliser are made from rare earth elements recovered from industrial motors rather than pulled from new ground.
Packaging
The box is moulded paper pulp, printed with water-based ink and closed with a paper seal. It carries no film, no foam and no tray.
Built to be kept.
A phone that lasts is the most recycled phone of all. Aura Phone is designed to be opened, its battery replaced and its display renewed, with software support for seven years from launch.
